Michigan Court of Appeals Affirms Arbitrator's Decision to Reinstate Officer

The Michigan Court of Appeals recently affirmed an Arbitrator’s decision to reinstate Officer Brandon Bullock to the Hamburg Township Police Department after he was terminated for violating Department rules. The Township took the case to Court, arguing four separate issues. The Court disagreed with them on each count, affirming the Arbitrator’s decision.

MAP stood by Officer Bullock throughout the entire ordeal. The arbitrator agreed with the union that Brandon should not have been fired. The arbitrator ordered the employer to restore his employment and the employer refused.

MAP went to the Livingston County Circuit Court to enforce the award. The Court upheld the arbitrator’s decision.

The Employer then appealed the Livingston County decision to the Michigan Court of Appeals.

MAP was again victorious. The Court of Appeals refused to overturn the previous court’s ruling. Brandon is now back in uniform and working at his previous position.

Map's attorney Catherine Farrell, and the MAP staff worked tirelessly to see to it that Officer Bullock's rights were protected, and also to see that the Township abided by the Arbitrator's decision.
