Stuffed Animals for Emergencies

Stuffed Animals for Emergencies (SAFE) founded in 1997, accepts new and gently used stuffed animals. SAFE volunteers wash, clean, repair, and add bows and decorations to the stuffed animals to make them "like new" again to redistribute to Police, Fire & Rescue, Life Flight, and other emergency organizations. The emergency organizations use the stuffed animals to ease children's nerves and calm their fears when they are caught up in traumatic, emotional, and transitional situations.

One of our readers, Sandy of Hazel Park, read the SAFE - Stuffed Animals for Emergencies article in our last magazine an immediately contacted the Michigan Association of Police (MAP) regarding donating some beanie babies. Michigan's SAFE Chapter organizer / Administrator Stephanie Herring, and her mother, were thrilled to hear about the beanie baby donation stating they have a need for these smaller types of stuffed animals. Our thanks go out to Sandy for her donation.
